MILEY CYRUS BOOKS NEW YEAR'S GIG IN THE O.C.

source: E! online

Miley Cyrus

To ring in 2009, Miley Cyrus is planning her own kind of high school musical.

E! News has exclusively learned that the tween queen has booked a New Year's concert at an unlikely venue: Inside the gymnasium of Beckman High School in Irvine, Calif.

Back in the summer, MTV held a contest for high school students to win a live, Cyrus-headlines concert on New Year's Eve.

The winner, E! News has learned, is Alison Kaprielian, a senior whose tireless work for the Pink Ribbon Club for breast cancer awareness has won her school the experience of a lifetime.

Fresh back from a Christmas break with family in her hometown of Nashville, Cyrus and pal Mandy Jiroux spent most of Tuesday with Kaprielian.

"Miley and Mandy surprised the girl at her house today," says an MTV source. "It was very cute."

Beckman student Allie Sanchez, a member of the dance team that will be performing onstage with Cyrus, tells E! News, "We are all so excited! We have been practicing all day."

While Beckman High is hosting the bash, it's not just students of the school who will be attendance.

On MTV.com free tickets were won by "true fans of Miley Cyrus," who will gather in the bleachers for the cable net's New Year's Eve broadcast, starting at 8 p.m. ET.

There is one catch: All audience members must wear pink—and that will go for males and females alike.

7 REASONS WE LOVED MILEY CYRUS IN 2008!

source: buzzworthy.mtv.com

Miley Cyrus

2008 was quite the year for Miley Cyrus. Between her M&M Cru and ACDC dance-of, her Vanity Fair cover, her Hannah Montana movie, her romances, her hit records, and turning 16, we’re guessing her mood ring mostly hovered somewhere between pretty awesome, and totally off-the-charts rad.

Though My Cy seems like she’s been lucky in love lately with her new model-actor Justin GAston, there’s been wide speculation that '7 Things' is an ode to her former love, Nice Jonas. WHOEVER it’s about, '7 Things' does an excellent job of highlighting seven reasons we loved Miley in 2008!

7. Miley’s Not Afraid Of A Close-Up: Everyone’s always bellyaching about how their pores look like craters in HD, but Miley is tweeny and gorge and always camera-ready. (Color us jealous… and also not famous).

6. Teddy Bears Are People Too: Laugh if you will, but we dare you to hug a teddy bearthe next time you’re feeling Erykah Sadu … that shniz works, haters!

5. Numerology: Miley probably didn’t choose seven randomly. In numerology, seven represents thought/consciousness, in Prince's world, it’s all about deadly sins and stuff, and in the movies, it represents finding a head in a box! What could be more thoughtful than enumerating for your lame-0, l00zer BF all the reasons he sucks so hard? We can think of nothing.

4. 'The Rules': Even though she’s only 16, she understands how a girl should be treated — like a pretty pretty princess on a pretty pony! Texted apologies = major no-no. “I eM So Sry baby, kthxbai” DEEEEEELETE!

3. Break-up Party! It kinda looks like Miley’s throwin’ herself a major break-up rager. I mean, there are some accusations flying, true, but there’s also lots of fun dancing around and stuff, and all those girls look like they’re maybe gonna get together for a sleepover and try out some new sparkly nail polishes and stuff. FUN!

2. Memory Collage: Did you catch that memory collage on the bulletin board?? It was the sweetest thing ever, though you’re vain, so you PROBABLY DIDN’T EVEN NOTICE! (Jerk!)

1. Miley’s Still A Lover, Not A Fighter: Sure, so, Miley *was* chugging down some haterade at the beginning of the song, when she was going on and on about the seven things she hates about you, but she flips the script! She turned her frown upside down and finished off with seven things she LOVES about you. Sweet, right?

There are, of course, many more reasons to lurve Miley, the biggest and best being that she’s going to be closing out 2008 by SURPRISING one insanely lucky fan tomorrow night. Watch it go down live at 8pm ET on FNMTV Presents: A Miley-Sized Surprize.

Until then enjoy Miley's video for '7 Things' Here

Miley Cyrus and Family

Making for quite the holiday to remember, Miley Cyrus got her wish of spending the holidays with her 20-year-old model boyfriend Justin Gaston.

At their home in Nashville, the family fun continued on Sunday afternoon (December 29) with a trip to a local ice-skating rink where Miley, Tish, Noah, Justin, and gal pal Hanna Beth all dressed in 80’s style apparel.

Meanwhile, papa Billy Ray kept things conservative in modern attire while his “Hannah Montana” starlet daughter went wild with tight purple leggings.

Joining Miley in the dress-up fun, Leticia “Tish” Cyrus sported some stylish animal-print leggings while Justin looked studly in super skinny jeans and a tight grey top that bared his sexy midriff, along with a purple headband.

According to a source on-hand, “Miley and Justin were affectionately arm-in-arm on their way into the rink and the whole family enjoyed dinner afterwards at a nearby restaurant.”

Miley Cyrus Christmas Classic Cut From TV

source: contactmusic.com

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus' new version of Christmas classic 'Little Drummer Boy' has become an instant hit after the tune was cut from the 'Hannah Montana' holiday special.
The teen sensation and her father Billy Ray gathered around the piano for the sing-song, but the tune failed to make it into the episode, which aired in America on 14 December (08).
But it's fast becoming one of the most requested new festive tunes online.
Meanwhile, the busy teenager enjoyed taking a break from her jam-packed schedule to enjoy a big family Christmas.
She explains, "We're never really all home on the holidays, so it's kinda hard to keep traditions alive, but we make sure we're together, no matter what."

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus knows how to avoid the traditional hassles of holiday air travel.

The 16-year-old Hannah Montana star and her parents, Billy Ray Cyrus, 47, and Leticia "Tish" Cyrus, headed to Burbank Airport on Saturday to boost out of town aboard a private jet—which is really the only way for Miley Cyrus to travel these days (unless she's zipping around in her Porsche).

From the looks of the many packages and suitcases the Cyrus clan was lugging around, they're heading out for their holiday destination. Miley (born Destiny Hope Cyrus) recently told reporters that she hoped to cap off a busy year by chilling in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.

"I just want to go home to Nashville, spend a couple of weeks there, get my feet back on the ground for a little while and go ride my horses. That’s my wish and hopefully, that’s what I get to do," Cyrus noted.

As for the teenage tycoon's New Year's Eve plans, the singer will be spending the day at a lucky fan's house, where she'll perform in his or her bedroom. The intimate show will be broadcast on MTV as FNMTV Presents: A Miley-Sized Surprise… New Year’s Eve 2009, and will also feature a set by Metro Station, which features Miley's 19-year-old half-brother, Trace Cyrus.

Even with all her professional obligations, Miley still finds creative ways to spend time with the family. No wonder she's America's sweetheart.

HANNAH MONTANA SAVES CHRISTMAS

source: nbcconnecticut.com

 Miley Cyrus

Eight-year-old Julia Rameikas is one of Miley Cyrus' biggest fans.  So when the Oakville girl's parents had the opportunity to surprise their little girl with a one-of-a-kind Miley Cyrus gift for Christmas, they bid on some autographed memorabilia for their daughter and won.

Two weeks ago Julia's mom took the autographed t-shirt, photo and music CD to Michael's Arts and Craft store in Waterbury to have the items professionally preserved in a shadowbox.  When Farrellin Rameilkas returned to the store to pick up her daughter's gift on Thursday, a Michael's employee told her the shadowbox was gone.

After scouring the store, the store manager determined that the shadowbox had been stolen and offered to reimburse Julia's mom the purchase price of the autographed memorabilia.

"We paid $150 dollars for the items but it's priceless because it's signed so it's not like getting money back is going to make a difference. We can't just go get another autographed picture or T-shirt," said Rameikas.

Or maybe she could.

Not pleased with the store's offer, Rameikas contacted NBCConnecticut.com for help.  Shortly after a call from NBC 30 to Michael's corporate offices Thursday night, a spokesperson for the Waterbury art store was able to contact Miley Cyrus's agent and the Hannah Montana' star is signing all new memorabilia for little Julia.  Michael's promises she will get her three keepsakes in a shadow box in time for Christmas.

MILEY FOR HIRE!

source: nypost.com

Miley Cyrus

Mark Lanier, a high- powered Texas lawyer, won bragging rights this year for biggest Christmas party - Miley Cyrus played at his law firm's holiday bash.

The private concert - staged last night at his ranch outside Houston for about 7,000 people - probably cost Lanier more than $200,000.

That's the low end of what the "Hannah Montana" star reportedly made per show during her "Best of Both Worlds" tour.

Some experts believe the cost of landing Miley may be as much as twice that because her popularity has exploded since then.

Lanier can afford it.

He won $253 million in the first verdict against the painkiller Vioxx in 2005 and $480 million in a business fraud case against Amoco in the '90s.

It was not known how long Miley played at the party.

Security was said to be high for the party. No one was admitted without a personal wristband and an ID, according to reports.

WHO TAUGHT MILEY CYRUS HOW TO DRIVE

source: E! Online

Miley Cyrus

Los Angeles (E! Online) – Miley Cyrus has turned 16, but how did she make time to take driving lessons?

—Sherie, Calabasas, Calif.

If you're asking whether Miley Cyrus made a surprise appearance at Calabasas High School to dazzle the drivers ed class with her wig collection while picking up tips on doing three-point turns in her new Porsche, the answer is no.

She used a private driving teacher—who takes you around in a car with two sets of wheels and brakes, with a giant STUDENT DRIVER sign, all while strangers throw bananas at you.

Think I exaggerate? Oh, I do not...

In fact, just a month ago, Cyrus told Jay Leno that someone threw a banana at her student-driver car while she was trying to learn how to be a safe motorist.

"My test person scares me. He says, 'All right Miley, if you make a left turn, what's going to happen?' And I am like, 'I don't really know.' And he goes, 'THUMP. That's what going to happen to your brand-new car.' He just starts hitting things, and it really scared me.

"I already had a big Student Driver sign over my head, and someone threw a banana at me."

As for the rest of the teen-star pantheon, I contacted about a half-dozen on-set tutors—the teachers who educate child actors. They said that on occasion, a child actor will pop into his or her regular high school and take drivers ed courses there, but only if the actor is on hiatus or between projects. Otherwise they call those driving schools, just like everyone else.

No word if they require special licenses for banana dodging.

"I got a text from four different people," she says of hearing the news. "I was like, 'Holy Moly!' It's good because people will take me a little more seriously."

Who will be on her arm come award night?

"I'm so cool, I get two dates," she says.

"I'm going to have one, which is going to be John Travolta," she says. "That's a big date. Two is Jeffrey Steele because we wrote it [the song] together."

MILEY CYRUS OPENS UP ABOUT HER FAMILY'S CHRISTMAS TRADITION

source: aceshowbiz.com

Miley Cyrus
"It's important at Christmastime to be daring - to put your cell phone and your computer away and actually be with your family," so Miley Cyrus suggests people on what to do this Christmas.

Christmas is nearing, but Miley Cyrus apparently still has no idea on what she and her family will do on that day. "It is so chaotic all the time," so she says, reasoning that "we're never really all home on a holiday, so it's kind of hard to keep traditions alive."

"We just always make sure we're together no matter what," she adds. "The most important thing is not about doing the same thing every year, but creating new memories."

She goes on revealing, "I'm always the one taking the pictures, and then I never am in the pictures! I wish I had not been obsessing with taking the pictures and remembered to embrace the moment." Sharing some wise words for people, she states "It's important at Christmastime to be daring - to put your cell phone and your computer away and actually be with your family and not just be worrying about other things that you can deal with every other day."

On Saturday, December 6, Miley Cyrus took the stage at Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista while taping a segment of the "Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade". The show itself, which is slated to be aired on December 25 from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. ET on ABC, will see the Disney star singing "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town." Her singer father, Billy Ray Cyrus, is also slated to perform his Christmas single, "Run Rudolph Run."

MILEY CYRUS NAMED IN 'POWER 100'

source: contactmusic.com

Miley Cyrus

Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus has been named in the Hollywood Reporter's list of the 100 most powerful women in entertainment.

The 16-year-old actress and singer already has a substantial CV, which includes a number one album (Breakout) and a $65 million-grossing concert-film (Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert) in addition to her blockbuster children's TV show.

And as a result the magazine has placed the star at number 100 in the list.

Cyrus' plans for 2009 include more TV ventures, the release of Hannah Montana: The Movie and an autobiography.

And the Disney Channel's senior vice-president for original programming Adam Bonnett told Hollywood Reporter Cyrus' unparalleled success is down to her ability to be the audience's "best friend".

"In this business, where there's lots of copycats and wannabes, Miley's able to really stand out," Bonnett added.

Cyrus, the daughter of American country music singer Billy Ray, is one of only two actresses named in the list, with blockbuster film star Angelina Jolie placed at number 24.

Talk show host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who is also the chairwoman of film production company Harpo, was named at number one.

MILEY CYRUS TO STAR IN 'ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING' SEQUEL

source: suntimes.com

Miley Cyrus 2008 AMA Performance

Miley Cyrus has announced she’ll return for a few more episodes of her hit Disney cable show, “Hannah Montana,” and then she tackles another Disney project — a sequel to the Chicago-set 1987 comedy “Adventures in Babysitting.”

Fellow tween star Raven Symone will co-star in the sequel, currently titled “Further Adventures in Babysitting.” The movie is set for a 2010 release.

According to Variety, Tiffany Paulsen (“Nancy drew”) is writing the script.

The original “Adventures” starred Elisabeth Shue as a suburban Chicago high school senior whose dull night of babysitting is interrupted by a call for help from a friend. Madcap misadventures ensue. (Our favorite bit part: a young Vincent D'Onofrio as “Thor.”)

Though the film was set in Oak Park and Chicago, much of the filming was done in Toronto.

IS MILEY CYRUS REALLY DIVORCING HER PARENTS?

source: E! Online

Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus

I heard that Miley Cyrus is divorcing her parents—is that true? I didn't know a kid could do such a thing.

—Helen, Leeds

First, let's dispense with the thundering denial that just came rolling down from Mount St. Miley:

The rumor that Hannah Montana is considering legal emancipation from her parents is, in the words of a Cyrus publicist responding to my inquiry, "completely false."

However, if Miley Cyrus did want legal sundering from Billy Ray and Tish essentially freeing herself from her parents and achieving an early adulthood—the teen sensation would be the latest in a long line of famous child performers to do so. In fact there are plenty of names you probably know very well ...

A teenage Drew Barrymore sued for legal freedom from mom Jaid in 1991. Other people who achieved emancipation as children include Courtney Love, Alicia Silverstone, Michelle Williams, Jaime Pressly and Rose McGowan.

But what does it mean? Simple. Means that in the eyes of family law, the kid has escaped all obligation to obey the parents, and vice versa. If an emancipated 16-year-old wanted to, say, date a 20-year-old underwear model, she could do that—without, say, her daddy threatening to take her webcam away as punishment.

Pressly explained her need for emancipation to Playboy like this: "I was in hormone hell, so going to Japan on a modeling contract seemed like a great escape. Neither of my parents could come with me, and in order to get out of school for that semester and go on my own without a legal guardian, the child labor laws said I needed to be an emancipated minor. ... It wasn't about my parents; it was about my wanting to get the hell out of Dodge."

Emancipated child actors also need not worry about parents mishandling their earnings or career choices—which is why many emancipations come at the suggestion of child agents and business managers.

Plus, emancipated kids can worm out of child labor laws and work longer hours, making themselves more attractive to casting agents. (That's the reported reason Williams successfully filed for emancipation at age 15.)

All that said, looks like Miley won't be joining Barrymore or Pressly as an emancipated person.

MILEY CYRUS WOULD 'LOVE TO WORK WITH' ANNIE LEIBOVITZ AGAIN

source: usmagazine.com

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus attends the 82nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on the streets of Manhattan on November 27, 2008 in New York City.

Miley Cyrus doesn't regret her controversial, semi-topless Vanity Fair spread shot by Annie Leibovitz earlier this year. In fact, she says the pictures inspired her to want to be a photographer.

"Everyone outside of America liked it a little bit more because that's more like the style, but the States are really conservative," Cyrus told the UK's Daily Record.

After the photos were published in June, the Disney star said she was "embarrassed" and called the shoot "a mistake." The Hannah Montana star - who recently celebrated her 16th birthday - was only 15 years old when she appeared in the magazine with only a blanket wrapped around her chest.

But now?

"Guess I just had to deal with that and just realize that I got to work with an amazing photographer," she said. "She was amazing and so talented and her lighting... I would love to work with her again. But I realize I'm just a kid."

Cyrus even said she's considering ditching performing to step behind the camera.

"That's what I want to do with my life. I would love to be a photographer," she said. "I want to come to London to study. I hear there are some great art schools here so I would love to do that."
