MILEY CYRUS TALKS FRANKLY ABOUT STARDOM, VIRGINITY, AND "HANNAH MONTANA"

source: dailymail.co.uk

MILEY CYRUS

With a hit TV show, two blockbuster films and an autobiography to her credit, Miley Cyrus has £17million in the bank.

And she is still only 16 years old. With innocent understatement verging on the ironic, she explains that she's had to grow up fast 'because people expect so much more of you when you are famous, and all I've ever wanted to do is to make an impact on the world'.

As the wholesome, fresh-faced star of the Disney Channel's top TV series Hannah Montana, she brought London's Leicester Square to a halt last week when - wearing a thigh-high glittery dress and 4in heels - she arrived for the premiere of her new movie.

It is based on the eponymous character she plays on TV: Miley Stewart, a typical schoolgirl by day, who is transformed into international pop star Hannah Montana by night, the minute she dons her blonde wig - the girlie equivalent of Clark Kent taking off his nerdy glasses to become Superman!

Only a few friends and her father (played by Miley's real dad, singer Billy Ray Cyrus) are privy to Miley's secret, and it is the contrast between her everyday existence and her escapist fantasy life which proves instrumental to the show's significant appeal.

Hannah Montana is the number-one show for the lucrative tween audience of six to 14-year-olds, while spin-off albums from the series have all topped the American charts.

Tickets for the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus tour of 2007 sold out within four minutes, while last year's film of the tour grossed almost £45million, making it the biggest-selling concert movie of all time.

Combine that with the merchandising - Hannah Montana stationery, dolls and even furniture - and the diminutive Miley Cyrus is a juggernaut of unstoppable power.

For a teenager intent on global domination, however, she walks into the suite of LA's Four Seasons Hotel looking amazingly laidback in a floaty top, jeans and moccasins, her face betraying just the slightest hint of make-up - she looks far more her age than the siren who bowled up to the London premiere in that very mini mini-dress and heels.

Since moving from her home town of Franklin, Tennessee at 13 to star in the Hannah Montana series, her time in the spotlight has been relentless.

But while she displays an unnerving degree of self-possession for someone so young - some would say her recent appearance on Jonathan Ross's chatshow was overwhelming to put it mildly - she is also given to bouts of teenage hyperbole, peppering her chat with proclamations such as: 'That's supercool!' and 'Boys are jerks!' (Her reasoning for the latter is not clear).

She may be a millionairess several times over, but her accessibility remains the lynchpin of her success.

MILEY CYRUS

Her latest venture is "Hannah Montana: The Movie," which since its release in the U.S. last month, has already grossed £45million.

It is sure to be another worldwide hit, but while the series could happily exploit the nonsensical premise that no one else realises that the be-wigged Hannah Montana is actually Miley Stewart, the film attempts to move the story on further by showing what happens when the secret gets out.

It stars Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty) and Tyra Banks, with Miley/Hannah enjoying her first on-screen kiss (with newcomer Lucas Till), trying to outwit a sleazy tabloid journalist and belting out numbers in her inimitable fashion.

MILEY CYRUS AND JONATHAN ROSS

Miley says: 'It's not realistic for this kind of double-life to work. Anyone over the age of 14 is going to understand that. But while Hannah was the alter-ego who allowed Miley to live her dream, in the film they've melted together and it's ruining her life.

'She doesn't know who she is any more and she's trying to find herself. You can be five or 60 but still figuring out if you're really the person you've been called to be.'

The question of course is: who has Miley Cyrus been called to be? There's no doubt she was born with the showbusiness gene. Her father was a huge country music star whose biggest song, "Achy Breaky Heart", was a worldwide hit in 1992, the year of Miley's birth.

Though he was wary of letting his daughter get into showbusiness at an early age (and having suffered years of public abuse for his mullet hairdo; he was well-acquainted with the vagaries of fame), Billy Ray let her join him on stage.

MILEY & BILLY RAY CYRUS

'When I was four, my dad was performing with Aretha Franklin and, even though he made sure I was backstage with the nanny, I wanted to get up there and dance so much that I ran on to the stage. I was passed around all these great artists and Aretha held on to me so tight. All I wanted to do was entertain.'

Miley started to act before she was ten, winning parts in the Tim Burton movie "Big Fish", and "Doc", a series featuring her dad in the lead role. Aged 11, she auditioned for a new Disney show called Hannah Montana.

'I didn't get the role till two years later, so there was a long period of wondering whether it was going to happen for me. Luckily, it did.'

Although the success of the show has surpassed even Disney's expectations, Miley's fame has already produced its inevitable downside. Last year, a furore erupted around a set of photos, taken by Vanity Fair photographer Annie Leibovitz, which showed her naked but for a sheet around her body.

Though the photos were tame, the Lolita-style implications were clear, and Miley was forced to apologise as her wholesome image suffered a blow.

This year she apologised again when a private photo of her making a ' slanty-eyed' gesture surfaced on the internet, much to the consternation of race-relations groups in America. Everything Miley now does is open to scrutiny. It's an enormous pressure for anyone to withstand, let alone a teenager still finding her way.

'It's hard growing up in the spotlight,' she admits, 'and I'm changing. I can't be the 12-year-old who just moved to LA for ever. I'm having a great time doing what I do, but I'm also going to stumble and fall. Having my parents close helps.'

She adds: 'People mention child performers who have gone off the rails, but there are also stable people like Jodie Foster. She was a child star and look where she is now. She called to give me advice which was great.'

Moving from a backwater in Tennessee to the shark-infested boulevards of LA has produced its own set of challenges.

She says: 'It's harder finding people who are real - you don't know what's real and what's fake in this city because almost everyone has a motive and everyone wants to get something.

'So many tell me they are here for new show castings and they'll have their hair and make-up done, ready to be cast - yet they're just nine or ten years old. My sister Noah is nine and she's one of those girls. She'll come home and say: "Oh, I don't think the casting director thought I was pretty," which is heartbreaking.'

There have been other annoyances - namely the scrutiny given to her physical appearance. Despite being a tiny UK size 6, she says: 'People will say things like: "You've got to lose weight and be this smaller size to wear this dress." It's upsetting, but I'm happy with how I look.'

MILEY CYRUS AND LUCAS TILL FROM "HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE"

Internet gossip sites can be cruel - the most obvious offender being Perez Hilton, whose blog ritually castigates Miley Cyrus for no apparent reason.

'That can be painful,' she admits. 'That's just a mean person. I don't know how old he is, but taking it out on me is a little strange. It's like going back to high school.

'I get to travel and go to London and Paris, while this person sits by the computer writing mean things about me. I'd rather be the one travelling.'

Already acutely business-savvy, Miley knows her days as Hannah Montana are numbered, and she has already taken tentative steps out of the tween bubble.

Her next film, The Last Song, scripted by Nicholas Sparks ("The Notebook", "Nights in Rodanthe") will take her out of the Hannah Montana comfort zone, giving her the opportunity to prove that she can act a part that isn't essentially herself.

Her romance with Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers now over, she is dating 20-year-old model Justin Gaston.

Frequently referred to as a ' Bible-reading underwear model', Gaston is an extremely handsome and - in teenage terms, at least - much older boyfriend, proving that Miley Cyrus is growing up quickly.

'But I want to keep my virginity until I marry,' she explains solemnly. 'I was brought up in a Christian family.'

How her life will fare over the next decade only time will tell, but one hopes she will avoid the pitfalls to which many of her predecessors have succumbed.

Billy Ray vows that if Miley ever came to him and said: "Daddy, this is isn't fun any more. Can we go back to Tennessee?" - 'I'll be the first one in the truck.'

Somehow, you get the feeling they won't be driving back home for a long time yet.

On the Monday, you'll all head to the countryside to the exact location of Disney's "Hannah Montana: The Movie" - Leiper's Fork. Starting this getaway day with a two hour horseback ride at the Natchez Trace Riding Stables, where many of the cast and crew rode during filming, it's then off to the Leiper's Fork town centre for lunch at the famous Puckett's Grocery, followed by a trip to the homestead used in the film.

MILEY CYRUS SLAMS "TRASH" GOSSIP SITES

source:  angryape.com

MILEY CYRUS

Miley Cyrus  is clearly no fan of gossip websites - the 16-year-old has slammed those who report on the personal lives of celebrities and suggested they could have a negative effect on younger readers.

Speaking at a London press conference for the film, which opens on May 1st, she told reporters: "I think they're hard on the celebrities featured but the kids that go on there as well."

"I'm a normal girl and if I was any smaller, I'd be 'too skinny' and if I was any bigger I'd be 'too fat', there's never perfection."

"But if the sites show pictures of me on the red carpet and then kids think 'that's what you're supposed to look like', I think it gets people mixed up. Not only the celebrities, but the kids reading it as well."

"I think it's all trash." Miley added.

JAMIE FOXX'S DAUGHTER, CORINNE WRITES LETTER TO MILEY CYRUS

source: breakingnews.ie

JAMIE FOXX AND DAUGHTER CORINNE
Jamie Foxx who recently provoked outrage over his Miley "jokes" on his radio show
"The Foxxhole", seen here with his lovely daughter, Corinne.

Jamie Foxx's teenage daughter has written a letter to Miley Cyrus to apologise for her dad's crude joke about the young star.

The actor/comedian provoked outrage when he and his crew joked about 16-year-old Cyrus  on his radio show earlier this month.

Foxx has publicly apologised to the teen, insisting his comments were made in jest - but Cyrus' country star dad Billy Ray has yet to offer his forgiveness, dubbing the Oscar winner's comments "hurtful".

The country star complained: "There wasn't nothing funny about it. And, quite frankly, I think if I said those things about his daughter, he might not find it so comedic."

Foxx admits his remarks were "insensitive", and has now enlisted his 14-year-old daughter Corinne to write a letter to the teen star in a bid to end the feud.

He said: "I don't want to defend my position as a comedian to be further insensitive to Miley on (US late night show) Jay Leno. We apologised to Miley and reached out to her.. and so we'll move on.

"My daughter has written a letter to her. We're going to get that to her and like I said, I don't want to defend it.. you can't defend it."

MILEY AND JUSTIN

In between tweeting about seeing the Mona Lisa ("Wow.") and being seriously bored, Miley Cyrus used Twitter to clear up a rumor that she's dumped boyfriend Justin Gaston to back together with her ex, Nick Jonas.

In short, it ain't happening.

Despite her desire to "keep my private life as private as possible," the Hannah Montana star wrote to clear up "this stupidddd rumor." According to Cyrus, "it makes me sad to think that people out there arent friends with THEIR ex bf, because let me tell u it IS possible."

Gaston is "amazing," and Jonas is "so lovely. He reaches out to so many people with his music, not only with his talent but with his heart. Our love for music is something that keeps our friendship together and I KNOW NO MATTER he will be my friend forver. so there thats all i will say about this stupidddd rumor."

And in the space of a few tweets, Cyrus was done with the topic and soon on to being "seriiiouusllyy bored."

MILEY CYRUS AND DAVID ARCHULETTA
Miley Cyrus with "American Idol" runner-up, David Archuleta, Archuleta will appear and will do a duet with Cyrus on "Hannah Montana" May 3rd.

Miley Cyrus swaps wigs and – presto! – her deep Tennessee accent is gone, the steel guitar in “The Climb” is forgotten and it’s back to teen pop.

The occasion is Miley’s opportunity to sing a duet with David Archuleta. The episode of “Hannah Montana” is reportedly to be aired May 3.

David was runner-up to David Cook in the 2008 American Idol competition.

His self-titled debut album and its first single, “Crush,” both reached No. 2 on Billboard charts.

David hopes to conquer the United Kingdom next. His album is scheduled to be released there in May.

MILEY CYRUS AND SHAKESPEARE

source: myparkmag.co.uk

Miley Cyrus performed Shakespeare sonnets to prepare for 'Hannah Montana: The Movie'.

Director Peter Chelsom made the 16-year-old star follow drama school teaching techniques to keep her focused on her scenes, including avidly studying the Bard's famous works.

He said: "We did stuff before we started filming that was just the kind of stuff you'd do at drama school, you know. Did I give her a detention? No. I made her read a sonnet though. A Shakespeare sonnet. She said, 'Oh no I can't.' I said, 'Let's do it because it'll be the most difficult thing you'll ever do.' We did all that kind of stuff. It was remarkable.

"We used to have this code where I would say, 'This means focus, because I don't want to have to shout at you across the set!'"

Despite her young age, the 53-year-old British director is convinced Miley has a success career ahead of her.

He explained: "I think she has a real range, I think she's capable of like a 'Juno' film, I think she's capable of that, and I think she's here for the long run."

But Peter - who was an actor until he was 30 - admits working with the teenage actress-and-singer was a completely unique experience.

He added to BANG Showbiz: "It was crazy it was like nothing I've ever known. She has this amazing energy.

MILEY CYRUS IS YOUNGEST TO ACHIEVE HISTORIC FEAT

source: yahoo.com

MILEY CYRUS

Miley Cyrus this week becomes the youngest hit-maker ever to amass three #1 albums on The Billboard 200. The 16-year old overachiever accomplishes the feat as the soundtrack to "Hannah Montana: The Movie" climbs to #1 in its fourth week. Cyrus breaks a record that had been held by Britney Spears, who was 19 when she landed her third #1 album, Britney, in 2001. Cyrus previously topped the chart with "Breakout" and "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus". (I'm not counting the first "Hannah Montana" soundtrack toward Cyrus' total, because she didn't yet have star billing. It was strictly a Hannah album.) Spears' three #1 albums as a teenager were ...Baby One More Time, Oops!...I Did It Again and Britney. Even after all her success, Cyrus is three months younger now than Spears was in November 1998 when she first cracked the Hot 100 with "...Baby One More Time." Fame and fortune at an early age often take a toll on artists (think: Michael Jackson, or for that matter Spears, who went through a rough patch before rebounding with her current album and tour.) I hope Cyrus sidesteps these pitfalls as adroitly as former teen stars Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Christina Aguilera have.

"Hannah Montana: The Movie" is the first album to appear at #1 that didn't debut in the top spot since the Mamma Mia! soundtrack in August, which took five weeks to climb to #1. "Hannah" debuted at #2 three weeks ago behind Now 30, then fell to #5, before rebounding to #2 last week behind Rascal Flatts' Unstoppable. "Hannah" wasn't expected to rise to the top this week. The race for #1 was supposed to be between Rascal Flatts and Day26. But the movie's strong showing at the box-office gave the soundtrack the boost it needed. The album has sold 555,000 copies, which puts it second only to U2's No Line On The Horizon as the best-selling album released in 2009. It bumps Bruce Springsteen's Working On A Dream down to third place.

Hannah Montana is the second TV franchise to spawn a theatrical movie that yielded a #1 soundtrack album. It follows Wayne's World, a recurring sketch on Saturday Night Live, which spawned a 1992 movie. (I'm not counting the mid-‘60s TV sensation Batman, because the 1989 movie was based on the comic book more than on the sitcom.) Several other TV franchises spawned theatrical movie that yielded #2 soundtracks: Mission: Impossible 2, Sex And The City and High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Others that made the top 10 include Wild Wild West (#4 in 1999), Charlie's Angels (#7 in 2000) and The Lizzie McGuire Movie (#6 in 2003).

In its fourth week on the Billboard 200, the "Hannah Montana: The Movie" soundtrack reached No. 1 for the first time on Wednesday, becoming the third album from the Disney franchise to accomplish this feat.

The soundtrack to the recent box office champ sold 133,000 copies during the week ended April 19, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Hannah Montana: the Movie" is the first soundtrack to top the Billboard 200 this year. Last year, three did the trick: "Juno," "Mamma Mia!" and "Twilight." The first and second volumes of the TV show's soundtracks hit No. 1 in 2006 and 2007, respectively.

MILEY CYRUS VOWS TO REMAIN STRONG DESPITE HER VILE CRITICS

source: examiner.com

By: Daryl D (L.A. Gossip Examiner)

MILEY CYRUS

Miley Cyrus may only be 16 years old, but she will not let any comments or criticism destroy her. "Miley is well aware that her mega celebrity status makes her an easy target," a family member tells me. "But she is a very strong person - both inside and out - and will do everything she can to stay true to herself."

Miley Cyrus has become a mega-teen superstar over the past couple years, enjoying high ratings for her disney show, Hannah Montana, while topping the music charts, concert charts, and movie box office charts as well. Her fans wait for hours just to get a glimpse of her when she makes a public appearance.

Still, Perez Hilton constantly refers to Miley Cyrus as a "s***" and Jamie Foxx was recently heard hoping that Miley catches an STD while an assistant of his called Miley a "white b****."  Then, there are all the commenters on gossip sites wishing Miley would either disappear or die. "To all those people putting down Miley, I ask what is it about yourself that would make you say such horrible things about a human being you don't even know?" the family member continues.

It's really sad that our society loves taking young female superstars, building them up, tearing them down, and take joy in saying horrific things about them. I hope Miley can continue to stay successful while not being burned by her detractors.

"HANNAH MONTANA" HOLDS SIX SPOTS ON THE BILLBOARD 100

As if we needed another sign that Miley Cyrus is taking over the world, the 'tween pop phenom is now dominating the Billboard Hot 100.

Six songs off the soundtrack for "Hannah Montana: The Movie" -- which just so happened to rule the box office this past weekend -- span this week's singles chart from No. 8 to No. 88, including Miley's "The Climb," BFF Taylor Swift's track "Crazier," and Miley's duet with dear old dad Billy Ray, "Butterfly Fly Away."

While the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" held on to the top spot, the "Hannah Montana" tunes are climbing at a steady rate. Miley's "Hoedown Throwdown" has seen big success in the past few days, with a 119 percent rise in downloads.

JAMIE FOXX SAYS INAPPROPRIATE THINGS ABOUT MILEY AND PAPA BILLY RAY RESPONDS

source: theexaminer.com

ATTN: We here at Hannah Montana Concert Tour Team know that you guys have probably heard the news of what went down on Jamie Foxx's Radio show, so since we try our hardest to keep this site clean and free of as much inappropriate material as we possibly can we will not be posting what was said by Mr. Foxx, but we feel that it needs to be addressed since its not going away easily.

THE HANNAH MONTANA CONCERT TOUR TEAM

BILLY RAY CYRUS ON THE BONNIE HUNT SHOW
Talk show host Bonnie Hunt, right, welcomes singer Billy Ray Cyrus, country music singer and father of Miley Cyrus, to "The Bonnie Hunt Show."

Jamie Foxx deserves respect for his intelligence and talent in both acting and music, but he’s lousy at apologies.

Jamie smiled and wisecracked his way through an April 14 apology to Miley Cyrus for comments he made on his weekend radio program. He said it was intended to be funny and took a jab at critics for allegedly taking his words out of context.

Jamie’s comments are receiving attention only because of the high-profile target. The bottom line is, he said things you WOULD NOT AND SHOULD NOT say about anyone of any age, gender or status in life.

It is not surprising that Billy Ray Cyrus declined to take Jamie off the hot seat in a comment aired Thursday on the Bonnie Hunt program.

Throughout all of this drama Miley has remained quiet except for a Twitter entry that said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."

LIL JON HAS MILEY CYRUS' NUMBER, LITERALLY!

LIL JON'S GOT MILEY'S NUMBER
Lil Jon has got Miley's number!

Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction.

Superstar rapper with dreadlocks, grills and a catalogue of lewd and lascivious material gets a new phone number -- that of a teen queen whose target audience has a bedtime.

Sure enough, the far-fetched scenario is a reality, as rapper Lil Jon Wednesday said he was in shock after realizing his new phone number used to belong to Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus.

“HOW COME I JUS GOT A NEW PHONE NUMBER AND ITS ****** MILEY CYRUS' OLD NUMBER!!!” Lil Jon wrote last week on his Twitter page. “STOP CALLIN ME LIL DAMN GIRLS!!!! TRUE STORY!! NO BS!!”

The rapper -- whose first album in five years, Crunk Rock, hits stores this summer -- elaborated on the mishap in detail this week.

“I was basically in shock, like how did that happen?!” he said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “Especially when I get texts like ‘CONGRATULATIONS ON TEEN VOGUE!’”

Lil Jon said he was not especially upset about the cute, albeit pesky, coincidence.

“Yeah, I like Miley! My son likes her show!” he said. “I’ll probably run into her at some award show.”

MILEY CYRUS PERFORMS 'THE CLIMB' ON 'AMERICAN IDOL'
Miley Cyrus performs her hit "The Climb" from
"Hannah Montana: The Movie" soundtrack, on 'American Idol' last night.

She’s got the No. 1 movie in American with "Hannah Montana: The Movie" so it only makes sense that Miley Cyrus, sans Hannah wig of course, performs on the No. 1 show in America,'American Idol'. Miley dropped by the shocking results show and performed her hit single "The Climb" pulled from the movie’s soundtrack. She gave a genuine, heartfelt performance that was thoroughly entertaining.  Miley's (along with Jennifer Hudson's) Idol performance was pre-taped from a visit she made to the 'American Idol' studios a few weeks earlier, hence no Ryan Seacreat interview before or after her performance.

Also on last night’s "Idol," the judges exercised their power to veto America’s decision when they saved Matt Giraud from elimination.

MILEY CYRUS TELLS FANS CELEBRITY "PHOTOSHOOTS ARE NOT REAL."

source:  entertainmentandshowbiz.com

MILEY CYRUS

Miley Cyrus has asked young girls not to compare themselves with picture-perfect images of celebrities, insisting that “photo-shoots are not real”.

The "Hannah Montana" star wanted to take her fans behind the scenes of one of her photoshoots, so that they could have a first-hand look of how much effort was made to give her glamorous looks for glossy magazine covers.

The 16-year-old starlet has admitted how she used to feel insecure and unhappy about her own looks in the past, and doesn’t want young girls to try and look like flawless celebrity pictures.

In fact, the Disney star wants the little girls, who idolise her, to understand how many hours it takes for hair, make-up and photoshoot technicians to make her face cover-ready for fashion magazines.

“I wish I could tell every little girl who looks in the mirror and says, ‘I’m not beautiful,’ and take them in to the process to (see) what it takes to look like that. They would feel so much better about themselves,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

She added: “It takes an hour-and-a-half before you’re even there and they’re (already) working on the lighting… it’s not real.”

MILEY CYRUS WINS PETA AWARD FOR SHOWING KINDNESS TO CHICKENS

source: peta.org

For taking pity on chickens who were used on the set of her new film "Hannah Montana: The Movie,"  Miley Cyrus has earned a Compassionate Citizen Award from peta2, the youth division of PETA

The acting and singing superstar reportedly became so attached to one of the chickens on the set that she took the bird home to keep as a companion. It was reported that Miley picked up the chicken because she thought the sweet bird was adorable and needed saving. She then packed up a few of the birds and sent them home with her mother. Miley reportedly felt sorry for the chickens because "they were sad to be working."

This isn't the first time that Miley has stepped in to help animals. Last year, she and her dad, Billy Ray, found a lost dog in her neighborhood and stayed with the dog until he was reunited with his guardian.

"Miley's heart is as big as her smile," says Dan Shannon, PETA's assistant director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns. "We hope that her act of compassion will inspire her fans to be kind to animals too."

Miley Cyrus will receive a framed certificate and a card signed by PETA staffers.

"HANNAH MONTANA" IS A BOX-OFFICE HIT!

source: nytimes.com

SCREENSHOT FROM "HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE"   Screenshot from "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

Miley Cyrus proved that she remains the queen of preteenage girls, powering Walt Disney’s "Hannah Montana: The Movie" to first place over the weekend, with an estimated $34 million in tickets at North American theaters, breaking several minor box-office records.

The blockbuster television series “Hannah Montana” has been transformative for the Disney Channel, establishing it as home base for young girls. The show’s construct is now familiar around the world: a girl (Ms. Cyrus) is a dorky student by day and a pop sensation by night.

But the big screen is a different ballgame, one that Disney’s teenage stars often fail to conquer. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie," staring Hilary Duff, sold a modest $17.3 million in tickets over its opening weekend in 2003. In February "Jonas Brothers: 3D Concert Experience" severely underperformed expectations, opening to $12.5 million.

Hannah Montana: The Movie,” directed by Peter Chelsom from a script by Dan Berendsen, became the best April showing in industry history for a Disney movie, and Friday’s opening of $17.3 million in ticket sales broke a record for a G-rated live-action film, according to Disney.

Overall, ticket sales for 2009 are up 17 percent compared with last year, according to Media by Numbers, a box-office tracking service; attendance is up 15 percent.

It was a disappointing weekend for Seth Rogan. His "Observe and Report" opened in fourth place with an estimated $11.1 million. The movie, written and directed by Jody Hill, may have suffered from poor word of mouth. Reviews were sharply mixed, with some critics arguing that the picture, from Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures, made light of some issues.

It probably didn’t help that “Observe and Report” is the second comedy about a mall cop to arrive in theaters in the last three months.

Second place at the weekend box office went to “Fast & Furious,” a reboot of the street-racing movie franchise from Universal Pictures that opened to an unexpectedly strong No. 1 last week. The movie sold an estimated $28.8 million in tickets over the weekend for a cumulative $118 million.

"Monsters VS. Aliens," from DreamWorks Animation, continued to show strength, landing in third place with an estimated $22.6 million in tickets for a new total of $141 million. "Knowing," the thriller from Summit Entertainment starring Nicolas Cage, rounded out the Top 5 with an estimated $6.7 million in ticket sales for a new cumulative total of $68 million.

Former couple Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus reunited on Saturday.

On the weekend of Miley’s big screen debut with the box office-topping “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” the Disney stars were photographed leaving lunch at the Village Idiot restaurant in West Hollywood.  The two met up to discuss plans for the new song "Pass It On", sources say that it will be a “Disney’s version of ‘We Are the World.’

Miley revealed the tween stars’ secret relationship in an interview with Seventeen Magazine last year, telling the mag, “We were boyfriend and girlfriend the day we met.

She’s now attached to model Justin Gaston, who she gushed about to Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell during a visit to Access earlier this month. “He’s so awesome and he’s cool and he’s a good person,” she said. “I love him as a person and he’s my best friend.”

SURPRISE MILEY MOMENT

source: sltrib.com

MILEY AND BILLY RAY CYRUS SURPRISE UTAH THEATRE-GOERS
Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus surprize Utah theatre-goers at "Hannah Montana: The Movie" opening day.

When someone asks "How you doing, everybody?" the usual response is not a high-pitched mass scream from several hundred throats.

But it's a familiar answer when the person doing the asking is 16-year-old pop star Miley Cyrus, who popped into Utah on Friday to surprise the audience at a sold-out matinee screening of her new film, "Hannah Montana: The Movie," at the Megaplex 20 at the District in South Jordan.

"We're really excited to see you guys -- are you guys excited to see the movie?" Miley asked the audience, who responded with a deafening "yes."

"I was really happy" to see Miley, said Breanna Soter, 8, of West Jordan, who was at the screening to celebrate a friend's ninth birthday. "I like her singing a lot."

The visit was one of two Miley Cyrus and her father, country singer and actor Billy Ray Cyrus, made to promote the Friday release of the movie, in which Miley plays a normal teen who moonlights as a mega-famous pop star. The other stop was in the Cyruses' hometown of Knoxville, Tenn.

"You're the greatest fans in the world, and we just wanted to stop by and say thank you all for your support," Papa Cyrus told the audience. "We hope you enjoy the movie."

The screening seemed to start normally -- except for the 30 or so members of the media crowded into the theater's hallway. But after a couple of "coming attractions" trailers, the projector stopped and the houselights went up. A radio personality from KZHT-FM, who goes by D.B., told the crowd they were "the lucky audience" to enjoy the "Opening Weekend Surprise" promotion from Walt Disney Pictures. D.B.'s assistants threw some T-shirts to the crowd, and promised more free stuff after the movie.

And that seemed to be that. Then D.B. asked the audience, "What would you do if Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus were here right now?"

Then the father-daughter pair entered the theater, and screaming commenced.

The Cyruses stayed in the theater less than four minutes, saying hello and posing for a few quick pictures. Then they ran a gauntlet of local news media. One TV reporter even brought a gift -- a box of marshmallow Peeps, Miley's favorite.

"We wanted to go somewhere that people didn't expect," Miley Cyrus said, explaining why Utah was chosen for the surprise visit.

Salt Lake City is special because Cyrus' 2008 concert film, "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour," was filmed at EnergySolutions Arena -- but, Cyrus added diplomatically, "in every state, you have a bond."

The Cyruses were asked if a print of the movie has been delivered to two of the nation's biggest "Hannah Montana" fans, first daughters Sasha and Malia Obama. "Maybe we'll do one of these Disney surprises to the White House," Miley joked.

Miley Cyrus joins forces with Youth Service America.

Miley Cyrus is joining forces with Youth Service America to promote community service for the 21st annual Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) on April 24-26, 2009. Through the new Miley.YSA.org website, Miley sends out a call to service asking kids to take action and share their stories, videos, and photos for GYSD.

Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world and draws the world's attention to the amazing contributions young people make to their communities every day. Millions of youth in more than 100 countries will organize community service projects that address problems in health, education, human service, and the environment. The new online community gives kids the opportunity to find solutions, take action, and share results, supporting Miley's passion toward youth service.

The network features are built on a Ning platform and include:

  • A video call-to-service from Miley
  • 100 Ways to Change the World
  • The chance to participate in a service project with Miley
  • Opportunities for kids to support each other through story telling, photos, videos, blogs, about how they can improve their communities.

"It is so exciting to know that millions of kids around the world are helping to make their communities and neighborhoods a better place," said Ms. Cyrus. "Global Youth Service Day is a great way for kids to get involved and prove their power. My parents instilled in me a passion for service, and I want to motivate all my friends and fans to do something they believe in."

"Youth Service America is proud to partner with Miley Cyrus to bring attention to the rising momentum of the youth service movement," said Steve Culbertson, president and CEO of Youth Service America. "GYSD is a shining example of the positive change that comes from young people contributing to their communities, and Miley will help us tell a powerful story about the year-round participation of young volunteers around the world."

GYSD occurs in all 50 states and in more than 100 countries, including Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Children and youth are encouraged to participate through service and service-learning activities and through good deeds. Hundreds of events are already registered online at program's website, www.GYSD.org.

Miley Ray Cyrus, 16, (born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992) is a Golden Globe and Critic's Choice Award nominated American singer, actress, and best-selling author. Miley is known for starring as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana in the television series Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel and in the new film, "Hannah Montana: The Movie". Miley was recently listed among artists and entertainers as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World. In a Time interview in 2008, she encouraged her peers to "start young" when it comes to service. "If you pick up a guitar when you're 8 you're really good at it by the time you're 20. It's the same with giving back. My family has been visiting Kentucky coal-mine towns since I was little. We take clothes, gifts, and school supplies. It's an eye opener for me, seeing families here in America living in Third World conditions. And it makes me want to make a difference. The truth is, it's never too early to get involved. Someday today's kids will be running for President. Now is our prep time. We need to get some practice in before we save the world."

MILEY CYRUS LEAVES "ACHY BREAKY HEART" TO DAD, BILLY RAY

source: mtv.com

By: Jocelyn Vena and Larry Carroll

MILEY AND HER DAD, BILLY RAY CYRUS
Miley and her dad, Billy Ray

Although her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, shot to fame with the lovelorn country song "Achy Breaky Heart" back in 1992, don't expect Miley Cyrus to head into the studio anytime soon to re-record his biggest hit.

"I think both me and my dad have both heard that song enough," she told MTV News. "He's the one and only. I don't want anyone to ever to cut it, really, because he's the one and only guy that could do it, I think."

Billy Ray agrees that she should leave "Achy Breaky" to him, adding, "It's gotten plenty enough laughs as it is."

But he does see a future in country music for the young star and maybe even a collaboration with him in the near future. "She loves to play [the Rolling Stones'] 'Honky Tonk Woman,' " he said. "I don't think she's ever sang it out, unless she's onstage with me, but she'd just kill it. I mean, she just wears it out."

The two have previously collaborated on "Ready, Set, Don't Go," a song Billy Ray holds close to his heart. "She's definitely got a rock-and-roll spirit that comes out every now and then," he said. "The song "Ready, Set, Don't Go" that she sang with me, sometimes she would sound like Stevie Nicks and other times she would sound like Loretta Lynn, and sometimes it'd be the perfect balance between the two."

MILEY FINDS HER WAY

MILEY CYRUS FROM THE YAHOO! MILEY SESSIONS
Miley wraps up her fourth acoustic performance for Yahoo! Miley Sessions with "You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home."

The fourth and final acoustic performance from the Yahoo! "Miley Sessions" is of "You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home."

It's a fitting way to end the series; not only does the song bring Miley Cyrus back to her pop-rock roots, but it mirrors her big-screen homecoming tale. In "Hannah Montana: The Movie," Miley returns to Crowley Corners, Tennessee to figure out what matters most in life.

Here's the chorus:

You can change your hair and you can change your clothes

You can change your mind, that's just the way it goes

You can say goodbye, you can say hello

But you'll always find your way back home

Miley Cyrus along with her sister, Brandi hit the Big Apple on Monday night.

After arriving in New York City earlier in the day, Miley Cyrus ventured out for a wallk around the Big Apple with her sister Brandi on Monday night (April 6).

Finally finding her java destination, Miley, who flew in from performing at the ACM Awards in Vegas the previous night, continued along with her evening by meeting up with her “Hannah Montana” co-star Lucas Till.

MILEY CYRUS MEETS CONTEST WINNER AND FAN DANIELLE
Fan, Danielle with Miley Cyrus.  Danielle recently won a contest on Mileyworld.com to see the premiere of "Hannah Montana: The Movie" and a chance to meet Miley Cyrus!  Congratulations Danielle!

Teen starlet Miley Cyrus snaps a pic with fan, Danielle at the premiere of "Hannah Montana: The Movie" held at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood last week.

Danielle writes, “I won tickets to the "Hannah Montana: The Movie" premiere through MILEYWORLD. I got to walk the red carpet behind the stars and everything! The whole experience was unbelievable. I’ve been a fan of Miley for four years now, and have been wanting to meet her ever since. When I was in the lobby, I saw Miley coming in. I anxiously waited for her by the door, and immediately asked for a picture, and Miley nicely agreed and said that she had to go after. Since we didn’t have our cameras, my friend tried to take it on her phone, but it was taking too long, and Miley had to go to her seat.

“I was going to go after her to tell her my picture didn’t come out, but then I saw Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift. I went up to Demi who looked STUNNING, and I asked if she could take a picture with me and sign my ticket. She was so nice to do both. I then went up to Taylor and asked for the same, and she gladly did. Unfortunately a lot of people crowded her after, but she didn’t mind. When my friend and I went to our seats, I noticed Miley was sitting near me, so I went up to her and asked her to sign my ticket. I told her how my picture didn’t come out and if she could take another one — she was so nice and did both.

“Then the movie started, IT WAS SO AMAZING! Everyone should go watch it, it’s very cute and funny, while at the same time tear-jerking. Taylor and Demi were sitting together and they were really enjoying it, always laughing out loud at the funny parts. When the movie was over, the screen pulled up, and to our surprise MILEY WAS BEHIND IT about to perform for us! She did such an amazing performance of ‘The Climb,’ Taylor and Demi started the standing ovation for it. Overall the whole night was a great experience.”

MILEY CYRUS WOULD LOVE TO LIVE A "HANNAH MONTANA"-STYLE DOUBLE LIFE

source: Mtv.com

By: Jocelyn Vena & Larry Carroll

MILEY CYRUS
MILEY CYRUS: Actress/singer doesn't think her show's charade would work in reality.

In "Hannah Montana: The Movie," Miley Cyrus' character faces quite the dilemma: Does she continue leading a double life as pop star Hannah Montana and regular girl Miley Stewart, or does she finally make a choice?

It seems like a scenario Cyrus would understand, but in her life, there aren't two sides: She's always the superstar. "That would be awesome, but like I kind of show in the movie, it's not a reality," she told MTV News. "So if it was, I would love it, but I don't think [having an alter ego] would work as long as it does on the show."

Miley said she's much more like "normal" alter ego Miley Stewart than like Hannah. "It's the Hannah Montana character that changes so much, because she's a little more into the material and all that stuff," Cyrus said. "That's what turns her into, kind of, this diva that needs to go back to Nashville."

Her co-stars seem to agree that Miley is more Stewart than Montana. At the end of the day, she's really just a regular girl living an extraordinary life. "I think Miley is sort of Miley all the time. One of the great things about her is, what you see is what you get," her onscreen brother, Jason Earles, told MTV News. "She doesn't really hide how she feels about things, and she really is a down-home country girl at heart, so Miley Stewart is close to how she is in real life. Sometimes in real life, she's forced to be like Hannah Montana."

Similarly, Miley's onscreen beau — played by Jason Till, who hadn't met her before doing the movie — was surprised to learn just how humble the teen queen is. "I was expecting Hannah Montana attitude, a little snooty," he said, "She wasn't at all. She was just a normal girl. I was so surprised. Normal — as normal as the most dynamic personality can be. She's so normal, you think you can just go out, and you really can't."

MILEY CYRUS 'CLIMBS' AT THE ACM'S

MILEY CYRUS ARRIVED ON THE ACM RED CARPET WITH PAPA BILLY RAY
Miley Cyrus arrived on the 44th Annual AMC Red Carpet with Papa, Billy Ray.

Miley Cyrus rocks out on stage at the 44th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday night (April 5).

The 16-year-old actress performed her new hit song, “The Climb,” from her upcoming flick, "Hannah Montana:The Movie" (out in theaters on Friday!). and was introduced by her dad, Billy Ray.

Miley recently tweeted, “Getting ready for the red carpet then off to perform at the acms and THEN catchin a flight 2 new orleans 4 Regis and Kelly!”

On the Red Carpet:

Miley Cyrus and her father Billy Ray Cyrus certainly spend a great deal of time together both personally and professionally, so does he ever get sick of his star-studded daughter?

"The dress Miley is wearing tonight is perfect, and so are these earrings because they convert into fishing lines real quick," Billy Ray told Tarts, motioning to Miley's long jeweled earrings.

But the 16-year-old wasn't so sweet with her response.

"You've been using this joke forever and that didn't even make sense but you just wanted to use it. It's not that funny, you're just upset because I busted you about it," she quickly quipped. "That wasn't even the question, the question was about if you get sick of me and now you're talking about fishing lines. It doesn't make sense — so do you love me or not?"

MILEY CYRUS COVERS TEEN VOGUE

MILEY CYRUS' COVER OF TEEN VOGUE
Miley will be on the Cover in the May issue of Teen Vogue.

Miley Cyrus channels her inner hippie on the May 2009 cover of Teen Vogue magazine.

The 16-year-old actress/singer opened up to the mag about choosing not to collaborate with her friends, her favorite people in show biz and Robert Pattinson. Check it:

On the actors she swoons over: “You’ve seen him [Gerard Butler] in P.S. I Love You, right? My favorite. I bawled my eyes out. She [Scarlett Johansson] is, honestly, the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. I went to He’s Just Not That into You with Justin [Gaston], and I was covering his eyes.”

On not crushing on Robert Pattinson: “I’m not a huge Rob Pattinson fan. Girls aren’t really in love with Rob; they’re in love with Edward.”

On not working with good friends Taylor Swift or Demi Lovato: “Demi and I are the most alike; I’m anti-drama. I like to keep my friendship separate, otherwise, competition starts.”

On believing in love at first sight: “I believe in love at first sight. It just hasn’t happened to me. I walked right by him [Justin, the first time she saw him]. Love doesn’t come from attraction, but from somewhere deeper. [Justin] is my best friend.”

Below are some photos and video from the shoot.

LIFE OF MILEY CYRUS: LOOKING BEYOND "HANNAH MONTANA"

source:  nydailynews.com

By: Rhonda Richford

MILEY CYRUS ON THE SET OF "HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE"
Miley Cyrus on location for "Hannah Montana:The Movie" filming on the Santa Monica Pier.

She is practically two people — the real-life incarnation of Disneys's billion-dollar "Hannah Montana" franchise, and Miss Miley Cyrus, a precocious Southern girl who just released  "Miles To Go," 272 pages on the life lessons she has learned in all of her 16 years.

Here's the rest: Critics' Choice and Golden Globe nominations, an impressive Grammy performance alongside pal Taylor Swift, a Kids' Choice Award, the cover of Glamour Magazine, the premiere of "Hannah Montana: The Movie" this coming Friday.

And that's just been the first few months of 2009. Even at this young age she's more than just a starlet — Miley is a full-blown pop phenomenon. The line between Hannah Montana the character and Miley Cyrus the superstar is blurry at best.

The character takes on aspects of the real girl — both are Tennessee natives dealing with a new life in Hollywood, and dad Billy Ray Cyrus even plays her dad on the show. It's a level of fictional reality that makes perfect sense to teen viewers in this post- "The Hills" world.

"It's all very confusing,"Cyrus admits."It's not so separate. I think it's really proven that as much as Hannah changes and as much as Miley changes, then again it's all the same person."

She may be Disney's latest girl next door, but she has already weathered a few personal and professional storms that have portrayed her as not that innocent.

First there was the uproar over the Vanity Faire portrait that had her in little more than a sheet. Then came the personal photos leaked online of her posing suggestively in her bathroom.

Paparazzi follow her and her boyfriend everywhere. Miley's living out her teenage years while everyone's watching.

"She's just such a superstar that people are interested in everything she does, whether they love her or hate her. She's that one girl that everyone has an opinion on one way or another," says Matt Rettenmund, editor in chief of Popstar! Magazine. "She's as big or bigger than Britney Spears."

"People will always say that I'm over-exposed and that's what I want, all this attention," says Miley. "That's not it. What I love is the art of it all."

"Music is not something that was thrust upon her as another way to make money or make her name bigger. It's something that she genuinely wanted to pursue,"says Rettenmund.

And for all the control Disney could exert, she's a 16-year-old who does voice her opinion.

"Even by the time her second album was released, she was pushing to have a say. She is going to break free from anything that is too youthful, probably even before she stops being a youth herself."

Teenage superstar Miley Cyrus is laughing off reports she is planning to marry boyfriend Justin Gaston after she joked about an engagement during a radio interview.

The "Hannah Montana" singer/actress has been dating model/singer Gaston since last year following her split from Jonas Brothers star Nick Jonas.

Cyrus sparked rumors she is set to exchange vows with the 20-year-old this week after Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest asked whether she planned to spend the rest of her life with Gaston, to which she replied, "If he gets a pretty ring."

But the 16-year-old insists the quip was just for fun -- because she is too young to settle down just yet.

In a post on Twitter, she says, "I am NOT getting married! I'm 16 and super focused on my career and just livinnggg my life! I was kidding on Seacrest!!! Ha-ha! A joke!"

MILEY CYRUS, JONAS BROTHERS TEAM UP ON "DISNEY'S VERSION OF 'WE ARE THE WORLD'"

MILEY CYRUS AND THE JONAS BROTHERS TEAM UP FOR "PASS IT ON"
Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers will be part of an All-Star recording session for a song called, "Pass It On""—a track an inside source calls "Disney's version of "We Are the World."  It's about kindness and passing it on."

E! News has learned that Miley Cyrus is set to reteam with her ex-flame (and Mouse House coworker) Nick Jonas as part of an all-star recording session for a song called "Pass It On"—a track an inside source calls "Disney's version of 'We Are the World.' It's about kindness and passing it on."

Fellow Jonases Joe and Kevin are also among those on board for the track, which is being recorded later this week. The tune was penned by Adam Anders and Nikki Hassman, who wrote Cyrus' "Hannah Montana"  hit "Hoedown Throwdown."

Cyrus, the JoBros and other Disney musicmakers will shoot the "Pass It On" video on Saturday.

As for those tabloid reports of a simmering feud between Miley and Nick?

"We don't hate each other," Cyrus told E! News' Ryan Seacrest today. "We really love each other. He's really cool, and I'm happy we've been able to stay friends.

"Everyone thinks that me and the Jonas Brothers have this big feud going on, and me and Nick are really close friends now. We talk all the time and he's one of my best friends."

'HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE" DIRECTOR 'CYRUS IS THE NEW JUDY GARLAND'

source: SFgate.com

MILEY CYRUS

"Hannah Montana: The Movie" director Peter Chelsom has compared Miley Cyrus to screen legend Judy Garland, insisting he was "blown away" the first time he saw the teen superstar.

The filmmaker is at the helm of Cyrus' first movie gig in the role of phenomenally popular kids' show heroine Hannah Montana.

And Chelsom admits he saw the 16-year-old's potential long before they worked together, recalling an appearance on Oprah Winfrey's talk show that left him speechless.

He tells E! Online, "I was blown away. I just thought, you know there is no way this girl shouldn't be ranked with Shirley Temple or Judy Garland.

"I couldn't believe it. It was like watching an evening with Barbra Streisand."

And the filmmaker is adamant that Cyrus deserves to have her talent recognized, because she has reached such a high standard at such a young age.

He adds, "She was 15 for the whole making of the movie. ... Was Barbra doing that at 15? I don't think so."

"Hannah Montana: The Movie" hits theaters in the U.S. in April.

As part of the big promotional push for "Hannah Montana: The Movie", teen queen Miley Cyrus has pre-taped a performance for Fox's American Idol.

Cyrus, 16, took to the Idol stage on Wednesday night — before the audience took their seats — to sing her current hit "The Climb," Access Hollywood reports. Her performance will air in two weeks, on April 15.

Just prior to serving up her Idol tune, Cyrus tweeted via her Twitter account, "Wish me luck .... Getting nervous! Time for Idol."

Cyrus is but the latest big name to pre-tape an Idol appearance, following on the heels of Season 7 champ David Cook (who sang on this week's results show) and famed finalist Jennifer Hudson (airdate TBD).

MILEY CYRUS: AMERICA'S MOST FAMOUS GIRL GROWS UP

source: glamour.com

By: Laurie Sandell

MILEY CYRUS GLAMOUR MAGAZINE COVER
Miley's Full Interview with Glamour Magazine.  Miley will appear on the cover of the May issue of Glamour this will be her first womens magazine cover!

The night before the Oscars, I meet Miley Cyrus at a sushi restaurant in L.A. Like any other fashion-obsessed teenager, she’s bubbling on excitedly about the dress she’s planning to wear the next evening. Her “happy-to-be-invited-to-the-party” attitude is a cute contradiction, given all she’s accomplished so far: Her Disney Channel sitcom, Hannah Montana, debuted as the highest-rated show in the network’s history; one of the series’ soundtracks went double-platinum; tickets for her “Best of Both Worlds” concert tour grossed $55.2 million; and now she’s starring in Hannah Montana: The Movie. The G-rated feature promises to be another huge boost for the Hannah Montana franchise, which is currently projected to be worth more than—ready for this?—$1 billion.

All that’s fine and good, but the 16-year-old is itching to move on to the next phase of her life. She’s maturing professionally (this is her first women’s magazine cover) and personally: Cyrus is dating a 20-year-old model, Justin Gaston. Along the way, she has had to navigate controversy for the first time. She did a shoot for Vanity Fair in which she posed wearing pretty much just a sheet. More seriously, a snapshot surfaced several months ago of Cyrus goofing around with friends and pulling her eyes into slits. The photo sparked accusations of insensitivity to Asians.

Although Cyrus is under far more scrutiny than the average teen, she seems unfazed by her fishbowl existence, talking candidly about the woman she hopes to be and every other topic thrown her way. Read on to catch this mini-mogul on the cusp of change.

GLAMOUR: OK, so I’m sitting here, eating sushi with you, and I have to say, you seem like a totally normal young woman! How is this possible?

MILEY CYRUS: [Laughs.] I think at some point during everyone’s life, you finally figure yourself out. I haven’t even done that yet. I’m still learning who I am.

GLAMOUR: Do you think these past few years of intense fame have given you a different perspective?

MC: I was talking with my mom one day, and I said that I would not change the way I grew up for anything. But, yes, I am really overwhelmed. I went to the Oscars for the first time when I was 13. Then I had my first real relationship; it was hard-core and lasted two years [with Nick Jonas of The Jonas Brothers]. That’s a life-changing experience most people don’t have until they’re 19 or 20. So my life has been on high speed. [My career] is a huge responsibility.

GLAMOUR: So what are some lessons you’ve learned from your mistakes?

MC: I’ve learned how to respect myself and how to say no. I’ve learned who I can really trust. I have 200 or 300 friends, but I probably trust four. When I read something in the tabloids and it’s from an “insider,” I want to know who thinks they’re on the “inside.” Because I can count on one hand the people who really know me. There’s my best friend, Mandy; I can tell her anything without being judged. There’s Jason Earles, who’s on my show—he’s like a big brother to me. There’s my big sister, Brandi. And the best thing that’s happened to me in a long, long time has been meeting Justin [Gaston], because he’s the most respectful and selfless person I’ve ever known.

GLAMOUR: Do you worry that your boyfriend is so much older?

MC: I don’t feel like I’m doing anything wrong, and I’m ready for people to accept it. My fans already accept it—they just want me to be happy. And I haven’t been that happy in a few years…working so hard, moving to L.A. from Nashville, going through a bad breakup [with Nick Jonas]. I’m finally happy again, and I think that is reflected in my music and my work. So honestly, I don’t feel like there’s anything to hide. And I love him so much I don’t really care.

GLAMOUR: How did you meet?

MC: My dad introduced us on the Hannah Montana set. I looked so bad that day. I was wearing sweats and glasses and we talked. Then he showed up the next day and said, “I can’t stop thinking about you. Can I take you to a movie?” When he took me home, I said, “I don’t want to get close to you, because I don’t know where this is going to go.” And he said, “Well, you can’t live like that.” So we took a three-mile walk, and talked and talked. And I felt 10 pounds lifting from my shoulders. Now he’s my best friend.

GLAMOUR: Your dad is such a huge part of your life. You guys seem to have a really good relationship.

MC: This may sound weird coming from a teenager, but I like when my dad is a little frustrated with me or upset with me, because I really feel like that’s not how most dads are in this business. Most parents with kids in the business say, go free, do what you want. My parents did not want me to go all Hollywood.

GLAMOUR: It seems so hard to avoid that.

MC: It is! At one of the very first awards shows I ever did, there was a bottle of vodka in my gift bag. No one cared that they were giving this to a 12-year-old.

GLAMOUR: You’re kidding me!

MC: I think that’s what’s messed up so many people. I feel like the rules are the rules, you know? If you’re not 21, you don’t get into a bar. You don’t go to clubs. In this business you see so many people who are told yes all the time, and if someone says no, they get all upset. They look to their publicist, manager or agent for approval, rather than their parents.

GLAMOUR: Can you ever imagine your life playing out like Britney Spears’ or Lindsay Lohan’s? They started out as squeaky-clean Disney stars too.

MC: The last thing I ever want to do is disappoint my parents. My mom’s dad died when she was 18, and if something ever happened to one of my parents, I’d want them to go knowing I made them proud. I think it’s selfish to go out partying all the time, especially if you have little ones [in your family]. I have a nine-year-old sister, and I don’t want her to go to school and have people make fun of her for it.

GLAMOUR: This year there were pictures that came out that made you look racist. What do you say to people who were offended by that?

MC: I regret what it became. I was embarrassed and I apologized. And I am sorry. I am going to be more careful in the future, but I know this won’t be the last mistake I make. The minute I stop making mistakes is the minute I stop learning.

GLAMOUR: Obviously you’ve earned a huge salary from all the work you do. How do you deal with having so much of your own money?

MC: In this industry there are so many things that can take over your life: money, alcohol, drugs—even fashion. People hand you things, and you start to believe life is easy. And it’s not like that—you’re not supposed to be the person you play in the movies. I’m doing fine, and I’ll be able to live comfortably for a while. But I like keeping my mind as far away from money and the material aspects of my job as possible.

GLAMOUR: So you wouldn’t walk into a store and drop $1,000 on a handbag?

MC: I feel like it looks bad, always having a different $1,000 bag. I do have limits on my money. I like calling my mom to ask, “Can I have that?” Because I know I can be spending my money more wisely.

GLAMOUR: You’ve used your fame as a platform for cancer fund-raising. What drew you to that particular cause?

MC: My granddad died of lung and prostate cancer, and he was my best friend. I’ve also lost friends, not just to cancer. My best friend died of cystic fibrosis. It just kills me to see people lose someone they love, so I want to do as much as I can: give money to doctors and hospitals; get nurses in there that care; put a smile on a little kid’s face. The things we’ve done through City of Hope [a cancer research, education and treatment center] have been amazing: The Jonas Brothers and I have raised nearly $2.5 million through concerts.

GLAMOUR: Who are some of your role models in Hollywood?

MC: This is actually funny. I’m a huge Jennifer Aniston fan and a huge Angelina Jolie fan. Jennifer Aniston can put on a plain black dress, with plain makeup and hair, and look so stunning. Angelina always looks so comfortable in her own skin: At a premiere she was wearing a pantsuit—what woman throws that on and looks smoking hot? She’s also changed every couple of years, going from wild child to being a mom and having a normal life. And Jennifer Aniston bounced back after her divorce. She could have gone crazy with so many different guys, but she didn’t. If anything like that ever happens to me, I’m like, Pull a Jennifer, Miley! She is so classy.

GLAMOUR: How do you feel about the pin-thin-body trend in young Hollywood?

MC: I think it’s lame, because it will eat at you forever. I’ve been at photo shoots where I’ve tried something on and said, “Oh my gosh, why don’t these fit?” But I’ll never be a six-foot-tall, 95-pound model; I’m meant to have a little more meat on my bones. One thing that bugs me is people who say, “Miley really needs to lose some weight,” or, “She got her boobs done.” I did start out really skinny, but you’re not going to have boobs when you’re 12 years old. I’m like, what are you talking about—let me grow!

GLAMOUR: So do you ever feel like you’ve missed out on having a childhood, or worry you’re growing up too fast?

MC: At times I feel I’m very mature for my age, but other times I feel very immature. I still like to sleep with my parents sometimes. I’ll go into their bedroom and snuggle with my mom, because I’ve been working all day and haven’t seen her. Or my dad will give me a piggyback ride. I’m not around other people my age that much, so I don’t know how 16-year-olds are supposed to act! I just do what feels right.

GLAMOUR: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

MC: Hopefully I’ll be settled: making movies, living in a house, maybe even married. I think my mom did everything pretty close to perfect, and I want to be the cool mom that the kids run home to. For now I’m still learning who I am. One minute I have black hair, the next it’s red. One day I’m wearing Converse sneakers, and the next I’m in the hippie look. I definitely feel like I know myself more than I ever have, but I don’t feel rushed to figure myself out. I have all the time in the world to do that.

MILEY CYRUS: I WON'T END UP LIKE BRITNEY OR LINDSAY

source: usmagazine.com

Miley Cyrus vows she won't end up like Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan.

"The last thing I ever want to do is disappoint my parents," she tells May's Glamour. "My mom's dad died when she was 18, and if something ever happened to one of my parents, I'd want them to go knowing I made them proud. I think it's selfish to go out partying all the time, especially if you have little ones [in your family]. I have a 9-year-old sister, and I don't want her to go to school and have people make fun of her for it."

The peer pressure can be hard to avoid.

"At one of the very first awards shows I ever did, there was a bottle of vodka in my gift bag," she says. "No one cared that they were giving this to a 12-year-old."

The 16-year-old also makes no apologies for dating 20-year-old model Justin Gaston, whom she met through her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, on the "Hannah Montana" set.

"I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong, and I'm ready for people to accept it," she says. "My fans already accept it — they just want me to be happy. And I haven't been that happy in a few years ... working so hard, moving to L.A. from Nashville, going through a bad breakup [with Nick Jonas]. I'm finally happy again, and I think that is reflected in my music and my work."

Adds Cyrus, "So honestly, I don't feel like there's anything to hide. And I love him so much I don't really care."

Of attacks about her body, she says, "I think it's lame, because it will eat at you forever. I've been at photo shoots where I've tried something on and said, 'Oh my gosh, why don't these fit?' But I'll never be a 6-foot-tall, 95-pound model; I'm meant to have a little more meat on my bones. One thing that bugs me is people who say, 'Miley really needs to lose some weight,' or, 'She got her boobs done.' I did start out really skinny, but you're not going to have boobs when you're 12 years old. I'm like, what are you talking about — let me grow!"

Asked where she sees herself in 10 years, the teen replies, "Hopefully I'll be settled: making movies, living in a house, maybe even married. I think my mom did everything pretty close to perfect, and I want to be the cool mom that the kids run home to."

For now, she says, "I'm still learning who I am... I definitely feel like I know myself more than I ever have, but I don’t feel rushed to figure myself out. I have all the time in the world to do that."

When in doubt, she can always look to Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie - two of her role models.

Of Jolie, Cyrus says, "At a premiere she was wearing a pantsuit — what woman throws that on and looks smoking hot? She's also changed every couple of years, going from wild child to being a mom and having a normal life."

"And Jennifer Aniston bounced back after her divorce," Cyrus adds. "She could have gone crazy with so many different guys, but she didn't. If anything like that ever happens to me, I'm like, Pull a Jennifer, Miley! She is so classy."

MILEY CYRUS: "I WANNA MOVE BACK TO TENNESSEE"

source: news.yahoo.com

In her new flick, Miley Cyrus returns to an ochre-toned, sun-drenched Tennessee countryside, where her Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana character paints a henhouse and learns to appreciate the slow life.

But would Cyrus, who also proclaims to love show business, ever move back to her real-life home state? I just got out of a press conference held by Cyrus, her dad and three of her costars from "Hannah Montana: The Movie" to answer this and other Qs you asked via Twitter.

And yes, heading home is a definite plan...

"I wish I had more time" to stay there, Cyrus said during Monday's press conference for the movie, which spent a few weeks filming on location in the Volunteer State. Cyrus was born in Franklin, Tenn., and grew up on her family's farm outside of Nashville.

"That was the longest I had been back since I left. I am really hoping to move back there at some point. Filming really made me miss home."

Any more questions for Ms. Cyrus? Yes, you there.

Is she thinking of doing another Hannah movie?

—Pinky

"I feel like...this is a TV show," Miley just said at the conference. "We were really lucky to have enough material to make one movie. To do another one takes away a lot of the reality. Normal high schoolers see Hannah's blond wig and say, 'That's not reality.' It was very clever the way, in the movie, we reveal "Hannah Montana," but we didn't make [the plot] in a way that makes another season unrealistic. We're all doing a season three, and we all wish to do a season four. So I don't know if I would do another film, but we would love to do another season."

What are her plans for this year?

—ValenBFM

Get this: Novelist Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook) has written a film part just for Miley—before he even wrote a companion book. The flick is called The Last Song. Cyrus said at the conference she's filming it this summer. "It's been lucky for me to play parts that relate to me," Cyrus said. "But this role doesn't at all. I may have issues, but not as bad as this chick. I'm happy to play someone that's out there."

So what's this whole thing about? Can't tell you. They're keeping the plot under wraps.

What charities and causes does she support?

—Deko and Posh

Cyrus has her own foundation that raises money in several areas, including homelessness and the disease cystic fibrosis.

"My granddad died—this is the third year since he died," Cyrus said. "That was hard because he was my best friend. So this is the Pappy Cyrus Foundation, named after him. We do everything; we're working with City of Hope, we took a couple trips to the White House—that's why I was at the inauguration. We've raised money for homeless shelters. My best friend died of cystic fibrosis while I was on tour in 2007, so we do work on that, too. When I was on tour with the Jonas Brothers, we raised two-and-a-half million dollars for the cure."

Ask her why she acts like such a diva when clearly she shouldn't because she is 16!

—RedOwl

She insists she isn't a diva. In fact she even invited other would-be stars to come out and get in the business.

"Do it!" she said. "Be a freak! Go to Hollywood!"

MILEY CYRUS WANTS 'EDGY' ROLES, "NOT ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS"

source: mtv.com

Miley Cyrus
'Hannah Montana' star denies being cast in 'Squeakuel' and 'Adventures in Babysitting' remake.

Lindsay Lohan was there once. So was Christina Ricci. Jodie Foster made the right choices, Tatum O'Neal made the wrong ones, and Drew Barrymore was able to correct her course after years of disappointment.

These days, there's one question on everyone's mind when it comes to teen superstar Miley Cyrus: Where does she go from here? Despite all the rumors, Miley will not be turning herself into a chipmunk.

"Everyone's said that today," she said of persistent Web chatter that she'll be providing the voice of Britney the Chipette in this year's "Squeakuel" to the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movie. "No, I hadn't even heard that rumor yet."

Miley told us that "Hannah Montana: The Movie," which hits theaters April 10, will be her last fun-loving teen role for some time onscreen, and high-pitched voice-overs in CGI cartoons don't fit into that master plan. "I want to get some edgy roles, not 'Alvin and the Chipmunks,' " she said.

Along those same lines, Miley shot down the rumor that she was starring in a reimagining of the silly, lighthearted '80s classic "Adventures in Babysitting." "I'm not in that movie either," she laughed. "I guess I get secretly cast in a lot of things."

Instead, Miley will begin shooting Nicholas Sparks' "The Last Song" soon, based on a book and script that were tailor-made to help her grow into adulthood. And beyond that, Miley said there were only two plans in her immediate future: Put "Hannah Montana" behind her and follow the path that made Foster, Ricci and others into credible adult stars. "I'm definitely going for more edgy roles right now," she explained.

MILEY CYRUS DEFENDS TEARFUL KIDS' CHOICE AWARDS SPEECH

source: Mtv.com

By: Larry Carroll

MILEY CYRUS
Miley Cyrus - Favorite Female Singer winner says she's shouldn't be embarrassed by her emotional moment.

On Saturday, a teary Miley Cyrus was overcome by emotion while accepting her Favorite Female Singer" statuette at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. And while fans debate whether the "Hannah Montana" star was too real, too fake or a bit of both worlds, Miley has a message to friends and foes alike: That's the way she is, take it or leave it.

I was a little embarrassed," she admitted to us on Monday of her misty-eyed speech. "But then again, I shouldn't be!

"It meant something to me," the star of the upcoming "Hannah Montana: The Movie" explained. "Because it's from the kids, and the kids are more important than anything else in the world. So it made me happy."

And so, when Dwayne Johnson announced that she had won the award, Miley said the tears began to flow. "Honestly, I didn't think I was going to win it," she remembered of her thoughts at the time. "It just made my day that I did. It means a lot to me."

Two days after she took the award home, in fact, Cyrus was still eager to talk about it. "Do you know that at the end of the Kids' Choice Award is a kaleidoscope?" she marveled. "If you look through the end of the Kids' Choice Award, there's a kaleidoscope. True story — it really is!

"[And] it's voted on by the kids, which I like. It's just a cool award," the 16-year-old singer/actress went on. "I don't know of any other award that is like that. It's a very unique award."

And so, to the haters who think her tears were over-the-top, she was still defiant. "Embarrassing? No, I'm not embarrassed," she said. "I probably would be, but I couldn't help it. I was just really excited."

MILEY CYRUS REFUSES TO BE A TEEN IDOL

source: smashhits.com

Miley Cyrus

Even though "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus is fine with being a teen role model, she has refused to be taken for an idol, and insisted that parents should not look to her while raising their kids.

Cyrus, 16, who has been in the news for a number of inappropriate actions, does not want people to make judgements based on her, as she cannot be Miss Perfect all of the time.

If you look at me as a role model I agree with it, but if you look at me as an idol, I don't, Fox News quoted her as saying on March 30 while promoting the upcoming "Hannah Montana" movie.

An idol for me is someone you want to replicate, you want to be them and I don't wish that on anyone to lose what they have personally.

What I think people like about me is that I don't try to change, I haven't let what I do for a living become my life and completely affect me. What I do in my personal life isn't necessarily meant to be reported but that doesn't mean it's not going to be.

I'm going to make mistakes and I wouldn't trade that for anything because I always say the minute you stop making mistakes is the minute you stop learning.

I never want to disappoint people and my decisions sometimes not only disappoint other people, but disappoint myself as well. If I don't then, all of a sudden I am not real and then you really can't look up to me, she said.

Cyrus' co-star Jason Earles believes that the young star should not have to bear the burden of being perfect all of the time.

It is unfair to expect a 16-year-old to raise your kids. While she does occasionally make mistakes, that's a good opportunity for parents to educate their kids on the different decisions they can make, Earles said.

There is things that are very inspirational about her, but anyone who thinks she, 100 percent of the time, should be can be the shining example, you are only misleading yourselves, he added.

MILEY CYRUS HACKER STILL AT IT

One might think if the FBI caught a guy who hacked into Miley Cyrus' email account and sent out racy pictures of her, they'd arrest him, or at least keep track of his whereabouts.

One might think that, but one would be wrong: EOnline.com reports that Josh Holly, the 19-year-old who bragged about hacking into Miley's personal business, is a free man, although still a "person of interest." The FBI don't know where he is right now, however.

A judge ordered an investigation into evidence seized by the FBI from Josh Holly's Tennessee home, and they're still looking into it.

"We're still working on it,"  Special Agent Scott Augenbaum told E!. "He hasn't been arrested."

Josh Holly bragged to Wired.com recently about how he's still spamming celebs' accounts on MySpace, and making around $110,000 at it. His victims include Chris Brown, Rihanna, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy and various others.

The schemer told Wired's blog "Threat Level" that he sent mass emails from the celebrities' accounts, "telling fans that the band would call their phone and send them a ring tone if they clicked on a link and entered their details." He then made $5-$12 off each person.

"Once I go to court I can't say 'not guilty'. There's no way I can get out of this at all," he told Threat Level. "Not even O.J.'s lawyers or Michael Jackson's lawyers can get me out of this. To be blunt, I was an idiot and I didn't delete any of my [hard drives]. I never thought they would raid me. They're going to get full proof evidence of everything that I've said I've done."

Confident much?
